Well our first official ‘Llanteg Great Get-together’ went off very well. Thanks to Theri Bailey for suggesting that our village join in the national event called ‘The Great Get Together’. The aim of the ‘Great Get Together’ was to celebrate communities and to acknowledge the belief of Jo Cox, the young murdered politician, that people have more in common in what unites us than divides us. The afternoon was supported by members of the hall committee and other willing helpers.
We had a great supply of cakes and savories and we were around 40 people having a chat and getting to know each other. It was lovely to see some new faces and the name stickers certainly helped!
Theri thanked everyone for coming and pointed out the various groups and societies in the village. There was much swopping of email addresses so that people can keep in touch.
John James also said a few words about the forthcoming funeral for long-time local resident Jean Mortimer which is next Friday.
It was a ‘great’ afternoon and went off in the spirit we had wished – with lots of neighbours happily chatting to one another and forging links.
